Details have been flooding the about the ability to make calls using your whatsapp service ever since it was first rumored sometime last year.
A few weeks ago reports leaked that the feature will be enabled for a few users to test. Since then the feature dubbed Whatsapp calling has had its invite window opening and closing (3 times this week.) which would suggest that it will be fully rolled out very soon.
Users wishing to have this feature activated on your Android or Apple Device can do so today by receiving a call from a friend who already has the service. Sadly not many people seem to have the service and getting someone who already has it activated to call you can sometimes be frustrating, but your patience will be rewarded.
Tech Analyzer is giving a few readers the chance to get this feature activated.
to do so simply fill out the contact form below and follow these steps:
- First you need to update your WhatsApp app on your smartphone to the latest version. Android users can head to the WhatsApp.com website and directly download the latest version of the apk file and install it. (make sure the version is saying WhatsApp 2.1 1 .561)
- Now wait for a WhatsApp enabled caller to call you.
After you’ve received the call you should see 3 tabs on your Whatsapp home screen “calls, chat and contacts” and you’re good to go. Now you can call your friends and get the feature activated for them as well.
I’ve tested the feature on a few calls and it quite good, calls where loud and clear and persons using their data connections also had crystal clear call quality with low data usage.
